My Story

Mr. Cobb joined the firm, then known as McDevitt Law Offices, P.C., immediately upon his graduation from law school in 2013. Over the following decade, he built a practice devoted to plaintiffs in complex tort litigation. He was elevated to Partner in 2024, an event that prompted the firm’s name change to McDevitt & Cobb, P.C.

Representative matters include securing a record settlement on behalf of a young woman who was sexually assaulted by a fellow student at a Chicago high school; obtaining a substantial recovery for a client who suffered severe carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a defective ventilation pipe serving a building’s hot water system; and obtaining a jury verdict on behalf of the estate of a wife and mother who died from complications of a routine surgical procedure.

Mr. Cobb has been recognized as an Emerging Lawyer in every year of his eligibility, from 2017 through 2025 — a distinction awarded to fewer than 2.5% of eligible attorneys in Illinois. He is an active member of the American Association for Justice, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He has authored chapters for IICLE Practice Guides addressing statutory dram shop actions and proving liability in automobile cases.

Mr. Cobb received his B.A. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2010, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 2013. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, is a Trial Bar Member of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and is admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Outside the practice of law, Mr. Cobb is committed to mentoring students preparing to enter the legal profession. He lives in the Chicago area with his wife and three young sons, and is a devoted Chicago sports fan.
